998 Lharvion 20th - 21st
998 Lharvion 20th night, aboard the Lyrander airship, the Cloudant
This morning I had the privilege of being introduced to a pair of unusual and fascinating adventurers. One was a taciturn female shifter by the name of Gora and the other a gregarious male halfling by the name of Johanas d’Jorasco. Gora seems to be a warrior of no small skill and I gather that Johanas is a dragon marked healer, perhaps even a priest of my own faith. Lady Elaydren introduced them and it is clear that they have served her in fashion similar to that of our small company. Apparently they were part of an expedition to Xen’drik, an expedition which experienced significant casualties. As soon as time permits, I will engage Johanas in conversation to discover what he knows of Xen’drik. Should we ever find the need to travel to Xen’drik, Johanas and Gora will be invaluable allies.
Speaking of Lady Elaydren, our patron was not as generous in our negotiations as I had hoped. The loss of the second diamond-shaped schema provided us with a very poor bargaining position. Furthermore Elaydren minimized the importance of the wheel-shaped creation pattern, offering only 1,000 gold Sovereigns for the artifact. Whether this was merely shrewd negotiating tactics on her part, or indicated the true utility of the creation pattern, we may never know. Our attempts to turn the various and sundry weapons and jewelry into liquid specie were only slightly more successful. Elarin managed to find a Sharnic buyer for the Valenar double scimitar (Bold Stallion), though we sold it for much less than it was worth, as expected. We fared less well with the other items, but we managed to lighten our enchanted backpack and pick up a few coins with which to build up our war chest. Hopefully, with what we gain at Fairhaven after selling off the rest of the magic items, we will amass enough coin to purchase a few useful Cannith artifacts. Given that we are still being sought by both the Lord of Blades and the Emerald Claw, we need to use our funds shrewdly and seize every advantage possible.
998 Lharvion 21st morning, aboard the Lyrander airship, the Cloudant
I slept quite well last night. The Cloudant is fairly comfortable for an airship. I have my own cabin, small by human standards, but quite sufficient for one of my stature. I managed to decipher the complicated arcane formula from the scroll I purchased in Sharn and encode it in my own spell book. This spell will allow me to divine the magical properties and methods of initiation of enchanted artifacts. Given that the material component for this magic is an expensive pearl, I don’t expect to be casting it very often. With my spell research complete I have the leisure time necessary to locate Johanas and learn more about his travels in Xen’drik.
An alarm has just sounded. I must away and discover what is afoot. Surely we cannot be under attack at this altitude!
First the falling star to rend the ring
And bring the mark and mind
Second the falling star to burn the sky
The key and hope to bring and find

Wow, I loved reading your post about D&D. I've always wanted to write my own but never got around to it. I also love how you mentioned the character journal, and how you took the time to describe your character's personality. It was really interesting and I'm glad I got to read it. 0gomovies
